The rainy season is also known as the planting season because this is the period where the planting of crops is done. In many parts of Cameroon, especially in the mountains where I grew up, there was the famous `seven day rain`, the name of which speaks for itself, and which takes place every year, usually in August. It can be a very challenging experience to try to carry on with one`s life when the rain simply does not stop for days on end.
The dry
season begins in December and ends in March. During the dry season, it is very
dry and dusty. The warmest months are between the month of March and May with a
temperature of 40 degrees or higher in the northern part of the country, which is located in desert country. The air is very dusty
and humid. During the months of October and November, you will have a clear
view of the beautiful mountains and
surroundings. There is the presence of the strong `harmattan` winds from the Sahara
desert, which carry sand and dust between December and February, turning the sky red, reducing visibility and leaving a film of dust on everything in sight. The best time to travel to Cameroon is
between November and February during this harmattan which are the cooler and
dry months. This period is the dry season.
